Customer Service - Electrical Engineer

Summary of Position:

The Customer Service - Electrical Engineer will support partners (including dealers and distributors) by responding to inquiries and technical requests about the electrical aspects of Zero Motorcycle’s products. You will provide second-tier troubleshooting guidance for electrical field issues experienced by owner’s motorcycles and work with our partners to ensure each issue is resolved in a timely and high quality manner. This guidance primarily will consist of reviewing log files and suggesting symptom diagnostic approaches. When necessary, you will escalate issues to senior support engineers or service management team members to expedite their resolution.

On a weekly basis, you will analyze electrical technical issues to identify trends and recommend improvements in tools, training or documentation to eliminate or acceleration the resolution of future problems. This analysis will also be use to deliver a weekly top ten electrical issues list to be reviewed with the product development, manufacturing operations and quality teams. This position is full time M-F and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Director Customer Experience and Aftersales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide rapid and accurate responses to partners’ questions by telephone and email
  • Conduct remote technical support and troubleshooting sessions via LogMeIn
  • Record details of interactions with partners in our Salesforce CRM system
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments including development and manufacturing operations to ensure escalated issues are revolved in a timely manner
  • Help improve diagnostic tools by providing detailed feedback to our technical training and development teams
  • Where necessary, draft service bulletins, service instructions or system diagnostics for review and release by our technical training team
  • Participate in on-going product training to improve overall technical skill
Required Education/Experience:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience using standard electronic test instruments (understanding of motorcycles, automobiles or electric vehicles a plus)
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with a computer including connecting external devices (USB, RS232, programming devices), using terminal programs, retrieving and storing files in remote locations and configuring systems with new software
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications including Word and Excel (experience with Salesforce.com a plus)

Powertrain Program Manager

Summary of Position:

We are the leading electric motorcycle and powertrain brand.

The Powertrain Program Manager is responsible for the technical coordination and support of engineering development projects related to Powertrain Sales for our OE customers. The successful candidate owns following up on component, system and vehicle development day-to-day activities with engineering and other functional teams, having the top level project goals in sight at all times. This position will also be responsible for working closely with our customers to define requirements, set deliverables, and provide status throughout the project(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Powertrain Program Manager must be able to prioritize activities and track the details as well as be in touch with the big picture objectives.
  • This position must be a fearless organizer who is ready to work with the highly skilled engineering hardware and software design teams, as well as every other functional area involved in Product Development, in order to identify and resolve potential risks to the schedule and/or to the quality of the product.
  • The Program Manager needs to have a strong understanding and mastery of Zero’s Product Development processes and systems used to track all corresponding activity, from part design and procurement, to system and vehicle level verification, to production validation and ramp-up.
  • Zero Motorcycles is looking for someone who is flexible and can respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to changes.
  • Cross-functional communication skills and experience are essential.
  • The Program Manager will interact with all product engineering disciplines, as well as Purchasing, Quality, Production Engineering, Marketing & Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Industrial Design, and other resources inside and outside Zero.
  • The Program Manager will be expected to communicate frequently with our OE partners to define requirements, develop specifications, present solutions, and manage expectations on project deliverables.
Required Education/Experience:
  • BS ME/EE degree required
  • 4+ years of industry experience
  • 4+ years of project management experience
  • Program Management training, such as PMP certification, desirable but not required
  • Experience with series production and original equipment manufacturing of complex products for consumer purchase/consumption
  • Experience interfacing with cross-functional product development teams
  • Experience with full project lifecycle, including requirements, planning, reporting, and budget management
Skills and Attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to facilitate meetings
  • Experienced in setting up project schedules and resource allocation structures
  • Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience
  • Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

Strategic Sourcing Analyst

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is looking for a Supply Chain Analyst to join our Procurement team. The successful candidate will interact with new and existing suppliers globally to help our Zero team create a stronger supply chain by developing clear reporting tools and improved communication methods. This position will report to the Strategic Sourcing Manager at the corporate office in Scotts Valley, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Continuously improve supplier performance by designing, implementing and optimizing new strategic sourcing tools, specifically to support better supplier reporting and collaboration with suppliers for stronger accountability.
  • Developing and implementing a new supplier on-boarding process.
  • Lead quarterly Supplier Business Reviews/Scorecard process.
  • Assist with the transition of components from Developmental Purchasing to Operations Purchasing.
  • Interface and communicate with engineering team, management and stakeholders to provide support with respect to Strategic Sourcing/Procurement processes and policies.
  • Act as a problem solver with the supplier regardless of the nature of the issue. Will be the first level of escalation for unresolved issues.
  • Assist in RFX administration throughout the strategic sourcing process such as confirming supplier contact information, collecting non-disclosure agreements & facilitating execution.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to identify and proactively focus on major spend initiatives or opportunities to drive optimal value to the organization. Ensure that activity within the purchasing team aligns with the Zero Product Development Methodology.
  • Assist the Strategic Sourcing Manager and Purchasing Manager to grow strategic supplier relationships. Develop a strategic management roadmap taking into account the forecasted business plan and product roadmap.
  • Work with existing suppliers to improve their manufacturing processes to meet the specified capacity and quality requirements.
Required Education/Experience:
  • 6+ years’ experience in purchasing or commodity related background.
  • 4+ years’ experience in managing multiple commodity areas procuring goods/services required.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing process flows preferred.
  • The ability to design and implement business processes and related metrics.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint), experience automating/establishing relational databases within an ERP system or equivalent in collaboration with IT, as well a passion for reporting.
  • Ability to multi-task various projects and achieve timely results by effectively and efficiently prioritizing tasks and projects.
  • Team player with ability to work with influencing and networking skills in cross functional teams.

Logistics & Parts Coordinator - EMEA

Summary of Position:

The Logistics & Parts Officer is responsible for all activities related to processing of our Parts & Accessory Orders. In this position you monitor the stock levels to control the inventory. For any Parts related questions from our Dealer- and Distributor network you are the first-tier contact. You will also be booking and coordinating the shipment activities. This includes the preparation and validation of shipping documents and coordinating the third-party logistics. You are proactive and strongly service oriented. The Logistics & Parts Officer is a fulltime position and you will be based in Noord-Scharwoude, The Netherlands. You will report directly to the Logistics & After Sales Manager EMEA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answers all incoming Logistics & Parts related calls and inquiries in a pleasant, professional, courteous and timely fashion to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Processes and monitors Parts & Accessory orders in our ERP system.
  • Follows-up and coordinates with freight forwarders and third-party logistics to ensure that Parts are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and validate shipping documents, including Dangerous Goods shipments according the IATA, IMO, and ADR regulations.
  • Coordinates and manages shipments of Company Owned Vehicles. All fleet vehicles from Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service departments included.
  • Organize logistic activities related to service campaigns and recalls.
  • Maintains contact with recyclers and unrolls new structures for EOL Batteries.
  • Coordinate and monitor goods-movements and maintaining inventory stock levels with global After Sales and Logistic departments to ensure Parts & Accessory availability.
  • Communicate, coordinate and cross train with the Customer Service department and Dealer network to ensure timely supply of Warranty replacement parts.
  • Proactively communicate Parts & Accessory inquiries to ensure that Customer and Dealer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Keep track of returned parts and warranty replacement parts. Make sure that the Return Material Authorization is
  • Participates in on-going product / procedure training.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Knowledge of relevant applications ERP and Salesforce is preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipper applications and web-based track & tracing.
  • Organized, superior attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient administrative skills and multitasker.
  • Strong communication skills. Verbal and written English is a must.
  • Verbal German or Spanish is preferred.

Technical Service Engineer EMEA

Summary of Position:

A Technical Service Engineer will interact and support our partners in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) by responding to technical inquiries and issues related to our products. You will provide first-tier troubleshooting guidance for technical-, electrical-, and mechanical issues reported by our dealers to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner. This guidance primarily consists of remotely assisting our French speaking Dealer network with diagnosing our products, pulling and reviewing log files and suggesting symptom diagnostic approaches to effectively resolve issues. In your position you are responsible to fully document the issues in our systems to escalate issues to the engineering departments and expedite their resolutions when necessary. The Technical Service Engineer is a full time position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support in a pleasant, professional, courteous and timely manner to adequately resolve dealers’ issues. Your primary focus is Dealers in all French speaking territories.
  • Conduct remote technical support and troubleshooting sessions via various web-based platforms.
  • Conduct Field Service Support to the French Dealer network if required.
  • Record details of interactions with partners and report solutions in our Salesforce CRM system.
  • Communicate and coordinate via various platforms with engineers to ensure escalated issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support of internal Mechanics with repairs and rework, to also keep up-to-date with the latest technology developments.
  • Help improve diagnostic tools by providing detailed feedback to our technical training and development teams.
  • Where necessary, draft service bulletins, service instructions or system diagnostics for review and release by our technical training team. If needed translate existing documents in French.
  • Participate and deliver your feedback to further improve Technical Training programs to improve overall technical skills within our Dealer network.
  • Proactively communicate with in-country account managers (Country Managers) to ensure Dealer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Intensify utilization Partner Portal and guide dealers with their Warranty administration processes.
  • Participates and drive ongoing product/procedure improvements.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written in English and French required. Dutch and/or German languages are a plus.

  • Certified to work on high-Voltage systems is a plus.
