Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently seeking an After Sales Coordinator within our Customer Service Department. The After Sales Coordinator will support our partners (including dealers and distributors) by responding to parts and accessories inquiries related to Zero motorcycles. You are responsible for incoming after sales orders – you will verify their accuracy and facilitate entry into our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. After orders are accepted, you will ensure each is delivered in a timely and high quality manner. Timely delivery will require that you work cooperatively with our materials management and manufacturing teams to schedule work orders, monitor parts inventory levels and drive procurement of additional parts to satisfy your demand forecasts. On a weekly basis, you will review order exceptions with the purchasing and materials teams to identify roadblocks to fulfillment.

As our parts and accessories business grows, you will interpret partners’ needs and make recommendations for new service parts or other products. These recommendations will include forecasts of demand, acceptable pricing and expected costs. You will determine pricing for parts and accessories within acceptable guidelines and prepare proposals for individual partners or to drive sales to meet quarterly targets. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to make sure that all customer-facing systems, websites and other publications have correct parts and accessories information including descriptions, part numbers and pricing. This position is full time and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and report to the Director of Customer Experience and Aftersales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide rapid and accurate responses to partners’ parts and accessories questions by telephone, Skype and email
    • Screen inquiries, interpret needs and prepare proposals using pricing within established guidelines
    • Review and enter customer orders – prepare the necessary documentation and provides acknowledgements as requested
    • Communicate on all aspects of transactions, before, during and after the sale, including expediting, until order is completed
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure product availability and speed order fulfillment
    • Submit work orders to materials team and manufacturing team for kitting or sub assembly requirements
    • Create forecasts and corresponding requests for purchase (RFPs) to drive purchasing organization activity in balance with demand
    • Review motorcycles’ bills of materials with development team and make updates to partner-facing parts systems and exploded views
  • Evaluate legitimacy of partner requests to return goods, facilitate their disposition and ensure account credits are applied
Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience in the power sports industry
  • Proficiency with computers including office applications such as Word and Excel (experience with Salesforce.com a plus)

Battery Electrical Engineer

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is a manufacturer of electric motorcycles for the consumer and fleet markets. Headquartered in Scotts Valley California, we design and build our product onsite and have been doing so since 2006. We are looking for an individual to join our engineering team as a battery specialist, and bring a strong focus of quality, verification, and regression testing to our design methodology.

This individual must have a deep understanding of current and emerging battery technology with an emphasis on the EV space. This position needs to understand all of the different parameters of lithium ion batteries and what is important for a given application and use profile. This person also needs to master all the design criteria that need careful consideration for the integration of battery technologies into battery modules, systems, and equipment that is exposed to the elements. This person will engage with battery manufactures to find the most technologically advanced cells on the market that will be the best fit for our application at the best cost. They will also lead the effort to integrate these solutions into our battery systems, test that they meet all design criteria, and move them through the design methodology to production.

The person we are looking for is confident in their ability to lead the way to insuring that Zero Motorcycles continues to have the most advanced, powerful, robust, and energy dense battery, at market competitive pricing. This position is full time and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and report to the Director of Electrical Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the battery pack development for Zero Motorcycles from concept to production handoff
  • Develop cell interconnectivity, cell-box packaging, connector interfaces, and other battery technology
  • Stay informed on latest battery development, research, suppliers, manufacturers, pricing, and manufacturing techniques
  • Provide direction to the engineering team on cell technology, battery advancement roadmap, and pack design
  • Aid Zero in vetting potential suppliers, from a technical and capability standpoint
  • Collaborate closely with Zero Motorcycles’ selected cell supplier
  • Work with other electrical engineers, connector/harness engineers, mechanical engineers, and chemical engineers to design battery packs. This includes writing specifications, coordinating design of the many elements, proving feasibility through early testing, confirming full functionality of representative design, testing durability of design, testing for regulatory compliance, and insuring manufacturing engineering can build the design in production
  • Work closely with the systems team on battery safety features for product as well as production
  • Work with the test group on cell/pack testing by writing clear and concise test specifications/procedures, assist with setting up the tests as needed, and evaluate/report test results
Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eight or more years’ experience in product development environment, and five or more of those years on battery systems
  • Experience with Li-Ion battery chemistries, cell design, cell performance characterizations, pack and Battery Management System (BMS) integration, pack durability, and pack weatherproofing
  • Automotive, EV, HEV, experience a strong plus
Skills and Attributes:
  • Proven working experience in battery supplier and cell selection
  • Proven working experience in battery pack design and development, including BMS integration

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide management and oversight for design verification test activities including QA/regression testing as well as all functional and performance related testing

Production Engineer

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Production Engineer. This position will be responsible for developing and continuously improving processes which turn design-intent drawings and R&D prototypes into current and future products. The Production Engineer will also be responsible for selecting engineering techniques to solve production problems and for making design recommendations that enhance manufacturability. The Production Engineer may also specify and/or design tools, equipment, fixtures and processes to increase productivity and improve metrics. This position is full time and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and report to the Director of Production Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership as the Manufacturing representative during development cycle of new products with an emphasis on DFM best practices.
  • Interfaces with Development Engineering to ensure seamless transition of new products into production.
  • Proactively identifies production bottlenecks and introduces processes which contribute to efficiency improvements. Identifies and proactively introduces solutions to improve underperforming production processes.
  • Drives continuous improvement in production, by contributing to the MRB process, generating P/CAR’s, ECO’s and DA’s as required.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes and documents manufacturing procedures (MP’s) and operating procedures (OP’s).
  • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment (including automated production line) and work space for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with suppliers when needed to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifying actions and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times and staffing requirements regarding manufacturing production processes.
  • Applies statistical modeling and methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Ensures routine maintenance is scheduled and performed on production equipment with minimum impact to production flow. Coordinates with external contractors to schedule repairs or maintenance as required.
  • Manages PE relevant Document Control and related DCN processing.
Required Education/Experience:
  • BSME, BSIE, or BSEE degree or higher preferred.
  • 2D and 3D drafting skills (AutoCAD and Solidworks) preferred.
  • Fluent with bills of material structures and engineering change controls and documentation.
  • Must have a minimum of five years of Production Engineering experience with demonstrated knowledge of fabrication, machining, assembly, and packaging techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with scoping project requirements, justifying capital expenditures, and implementing projects which improve Safety, Quality, Inventory, Delivery, and/or Productivity.
  • Demonstrated capability of performing root cause analysis. Ability to analyze data and present in an effective format. Ability to read and analyze prints and perform tolerance stack analysis.
  • Experience with similar technologies (battery packs, electric motors, motorcycles) preferred.

Sales Order Administrator

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Sales Order Administrator. This position works directly and supports the domestic and international order administration and performs duties in a project management, facilitation, organizational, and delivery assurance roles. This position is full time M-F and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Sales Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Responsible for the administrative process from the booking of the sales order through the delivery of the contract. This involves coordination and organization of key project milestones, order accuracy, support to the distributor/customer and tracking/managing the project through successful completion. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Managing a project plan that describes all key milestones and tasks associated with delivering to successful completion of assigned sales orders.
    • Work with the Manufacturing, Shipping, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Sales Operations, and Finance departments to facilitate needed support for all customers.
    • Ensuring that the dealers’, distributors’ and/or direct customers’ entire order is fulfilled completely and that includes motorcycles, spare parts, accessories/apparel, and any required special tools.
    • Track and communicate the project schedule and the status throughout the project lifecycle to the key stakeholders.
  • Sales Operations: Responsible for administering every aspect of vehicles and supporting products sold by Zero Motorcycles through Direct and Dealer/Distributor sales. Coordinate shipping, billing, and tracking of vehicles ensuring that customers and partners have the best possible experience when receiving products that they have purchased. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Supporting all of our North & South American regions involved in business operations with collecting, entering, and processing all sales orders.
    • Working with Operations team to manage allocation of vehicles from production to fulfill order demand/forecast, and that any Capital Financing of vehicles to Zero Motorcycles is properly administered.
    • Coordinate, assign, and Follow up on any inbound and post sales and delivery questions in regards to Export / Import / Registration of their products.
    • Manage the data within the CRM system (Salesforce.com) in an effort to ensure accuracy and weekly reporting of regional productivity.
    • Manage all aspects of RMAs (returned units): shipping, administration, replacement and/or financial settlement. Ensure that all systems are up to date and reflect the correct status of these units.
    • Manage the company owned vehicle (COV) fleet: collect orders from the departments, manage the order fulfillment, tracking the location of the bikes throughout the year. At year-end, collect bikes from the field and manage the COV sales process.
    • Take ownership of the central COV fleet, allocate bikes to support the activities of the Sales and Marketing departments, and organize VIP demo rides when requested.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or equivalent experience.
  • Organizational and project management duties in an environment that maintains strict processes and guidelines for optimal performance.
  • Interdepartmental coordination.
  • Working with various departments to achieve success metrics and continually improve processes.

Sr. Test Engineer

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Sr. Test Engineer. This individual will be the foundation of a test engineering team with a large range of test skills.

This individual will augment our very strong prototype and test team. The individual will work with many different people and departments to define test needs and deliverables including, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, powertrain engineering, as well as outside test services. We are looking for someone that is well rounded, has a good understanding of every aspect of vehicle test development, and has experience with product test from design verification/validation, to component shock and vibe, thermal stress, HALT, component fatigue, full vehicle NVH, strain gage schemes, etc..

The person we are looking for is confident in their ability to lead the way in instituting a well-documented test process. This position is full time and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and report to the Director of Prototype & Test.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Writes, edits, and publishes test procedures and plans, including necessary records and desired output documents.
  • Works with other departments to help identify areas that can be made more robust by intelligent use of discovery through test.
  • Work with outside test services to communicate defined test projects, track progress, insure testing is completed satisfactorily, and make decisions to keep test projects on track.
  • Assist with the planning and building of our test infrastructure for expanding our in house test capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten or more years’ experience in vehicle test environment.
  • Automotive, EV, HEV, motorcycle, test experience a strong plus.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Proven working experience in test development.
  • Expert knowledge of vehicle test.
  • Knowledge and experience with data acquisition and sensor specification and deployment.
  • Knowledge of HBM eDAQ lite and InField or equivalent tools.
  • Experience and knowledge of strain gage application and post processing.
  • Ability to create a fully instrumented vehicle for the collection of Road Load Data.

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Customer Service - Electrical Engineer. The Customer Service - Electrical Engineer will support partners (including dealers and distributors) by responding to inquiries and technical requests about the electrical aspects of Zero Motorcycle’s products. You will provide second-tier troubleshooting guidance for electrical field issues experienced by owner’s motorcycles and work with our partners to ensure each issue is resolved in a timely and high quality manner. This guidance primarily will consist of reviewing log files and suggesting symptom diagnostic approaches. When necessary, you will escalate issues to the product development or manufacturing operations teams to expedite their resolution.

On a weekly basis, you will analyze electrical technical issues to identify trends and recommend improvements in tools, training or documentation to eliminate or acceleration the resolution of future problems. This analysis will also be used to deliver a weekly top ten electrical issues list to be reviewed with the product development team. This position will be working at our Alkmaar, Netherlands location and will report to the Director of Customer Experience and Aftersales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide rapid and accurate responses to partners’ questions by telephone and email.
  • Conduct remote technical support and troubleshooting sessions via LogMeIn.
  • Record details of interactions with partners in our Salesforce CRM system.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments including development and manufacturing operations to ensure escalated issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Help improve diagnostic tools by providing detailed feedback to our technical training and development teams.
  • Where necessary, draft service bulletins, service instructions or system diagnostics for review and release by our technical training team.
  • Participate in on-going product training to improve overall technical skill.
Required Education/Experience:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience using standard electronic test instruments (understanding of motorcycles, automobiles or electric vehicles a plus)
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with a computer including connecting external devices (USB, RS232, programming devices), using terminal programs, retrieving and storing files in remote locations and configuring systems with new software
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications including Word and Excel (experience with Salesforce.com a plus)

  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written
  • Must be customer-focused and service-oriented
  • Highly analytical approach to problem analysis and problem-solving with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to multi-task on several projects and collaborate with groups and partners of various technical skill levels
  • Able to prioritize projects and escalate issues to the appropriate parties as necessary
