Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Central Sales Specialist. This position is full time and will be working in our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Director of NA Sales.

Responsible for the achievement and maintenance of minimum demonstrator requirements and reengagement targets and all Sales and select Sales Operations functions in support of regional dealers outside of the Market Concentration strategy. Primary commercial liaison with identified dealers at the direction of the Inside Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sales Support: Responsible for the day-to-day dealer relationship, both in/outbound, within area of responsibility including but not limited to:
    • Achieve overall reengagement and minimum demonstrator objectives
    • Ensure dealers are aware of sales and aftersales bulletins and incentive programs to maximize wholesale and retail opportunities through regular verbal contact and written communications
    • Handle incoming dealer inquiries relating to ordering, pipeline, demonstrator, pre-sold, fleet and ex-COV units
    • Support Sales Operations team with sales program fulfillments
    • Assist with the Zero University program to ensure Zero has strong advocates in all dealerships
    • Assist with the processing, tracking, and execution of consumer leads
    • Filter incoming dealer inquiries relating to other departments and ensure follow up
Required Education/Experience:
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in delivering sales results for a powersports, automotive, or related company. The ideal candidate should have:
    • High school or equivalent education at a minimum
    • A good understanding of motorcycle/powersports dealers and customers
    • Remote sales & canvassing experience
    • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities present with independent retailers
    • Organizational duties in an environment that maintains processes and guidelines for measurement and improvement
Skills and Attributes:
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of wholesale distribution and selling through independent retailers. They should be a confident and positive communicator who can work under pressure to help Zero and our retail partners achieve the desired volume growth within the territory. Additionally, they should have:
    • Experience managing multiple relationships remotely across multiple time zones – this may require flexibility to manage starting early to provide East Coast coverage or working late to accommodate West Coast coverage
    • Good analytical abilities and attention to detail
    • Experience working with Salesforce.com, Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
    • Ability to work effectively and independently without micromanagement within a dynamic and fast moving environment

Customer Service - Electrical Engineer

Summary of Position:

The Customer Service - Electrical Engineer will support partners (including dealers and distributors) by responding to inquiries and technical requests about the electrical aspects of Zero Motorcycle’s products. You will provide second-tier troubleshooting guidance for electrical field issues experienced by owner’s motorcycles and work with our partners to ensure each issue is resolved in a timely and high quality manner. This guidance primarily will consist of reviewing log files and suggesting symptom diagnostic approaches. When necessary, you will escalate issues to senior support engineers or service management team members to expedite their resolution.

On a weekly basis, you will analyze electrical technical issues to identify trends and recommend improvements in tools, training or documentation to eliminate or acceleration the resolution of future problems. This analysis will also be use to deliver a weekly top ten electrical issues list to be reviewed with the product development, manufacturing operations and quality teams. This position is full time M-F and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Director Customer Experience and Aftersales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide rapid and accurate responses to partners’ questions by telephone and email
  • Conduct remote technical support and troubleshooting sessions via LogMeIn
  • Record details of interactions with partners in our Salesforce CRM system
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments including development and manufacturing operations to ensure escalated issues are revolved in a timely manner
  • Help improve diagnostic tools by providing detailed feedback to our technical training and development teams
  • Where necessary, draft service bulletins, service instructions or system diagnostics for review and release by our technical training team
  • Participate in on-going product training to improve overall technical skill
Required Education/Experience:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience using standard electronic test instruments (understanding of motorcycles, automobiles or electric vehicles a plus)
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with a computer including connecting external devices (USB, RS232, programming devices), using terminal programs, retrieving and storing files in remote locations and configuring systems with new software
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications including Word and Excel (experience with Salesforce.com a plus)

Director of Electrical Engineering

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is looking for a Director of Electrical Engineering. This position is full time and will be working in our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the VP of Product Development.

Our purpose: Elevate the riding experience and inspire a perception shift in riders which will transform our industry and the world.

Your role: Lead the Electrical Engineering Team in defining requirements and creation of specifications for electrical/electronic components and systems, as well as associated embedded software/firmware, including their successful integration into high performance electric motorcycles that fully meet their defined requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • As a key functional leader within the Engineering organization, this position owns the responsibility to deliver all defined deliverables related to new model development programs within the scope of the vehicle electrical architecture up to and including defining the electrical architecture itself
  • Provide management and oversight for design verification test activities including software QA/regression testing as well as all functional and performance related testing
  • Provide technical support to the Aftersales organization to analyze and resolve customer concerns from global markets
  • Provide technical support for continuous improvement activities defined by the Quality organization
  • Represent Electrical Engineering function, both within and outside the company; properly managing cross-functional and supplier communications and reporting, as needed
  • Manage the talent resources of the Electrical Engineering Department from identifying and defining resource requirements to hiring/on-boarding, mentoring, performance management and career development of the team members
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the Electrical Engineering Department
  • Monitor the activities of various industry based standards organizations, technical associations and academic research groups for the purpose of providing insight and direction of various trends

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Shipping - Material Handling Clerk

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for Shipping Clerk - Material Handler who will perform general warehouse material handling duties with support in shipping and or receiving.

This position is full time M-F and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters. This position will contract through our assigned staffing agency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shipping Clerk
    • Assure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents.
    • Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
    • Arranges for movement of freight to consignee/agent and updates the system with information.
    • Assemble packaging materials and packages merchandise per instructions, in preparation for shipment.
    • Enter data pertaining to domestic and international shipments into the company’s ERP system and into the shipping systems of commercial freight carriers.
  • Material Handler
    • Receives, unpacks, checks, and stores merchandise or materials within the warehouse or storage facility.
    • Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and within the storage facility.

VP of Marketing

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Vice President of Marketing. This position is full time and will be working in our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Vice President of Marketing will have full responsibility for all facets of global marketing for the Zero Motorcycles brand. This position will lead the organization in the development and evolution of the global brand positioning for Zero, focused on improving key brand and performance metrics and enabling increased brand awareness, brand affinity, pricing power and / or market share.

This individual will establish the strategic direction and tone for all brand communications and lead the various marketing functions and agencies towards a clear, sustainable brand message for all tiers of marketing. The VP of Marketing will ensure alignment between the Marketing function and other key stakeholders including Sales, Product Engineering, Powertrain and Aftersales.

The primary go-to-market channel for consumer sales is through a network of motorcycle and e-vehicle dealers and distributors worldwide. In addition, Zero has two strong B2B business segments: Fleet/Authority sales (police, security, military, etc) and Powertrain sales. Effective brand building and marketing for Zero will support all three of these critical revenue streams.

The Zero brand is a leading and innovative brand that will benefit from brand and marketing approaches which will leverage digital, social media, earned media (PR), events, and distribution outlets. This position will require hands-on brand and marketing leadership to drive awareness and growth within very efficient budgets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands-on management of Zero’s marketing activities worldwide.
  • Develop the annual Go-To-Market (GTM) plan to align the product, marketing and sales functions around the key stories, promotions and communication plan for Zero for each season and calendar year.
  • Lead the brand and marketing strategies and their execution, and establish marketing platforms and strategic direction for the Zero brand to ensure long-term growth and profitability
  • Work closely with the business leaders (Sales, Product Engineering, Powertrain and Aftersales) and other key executive stakeholders to ensure that brand positioning and marketing activities are aligned with the overall business plan and objectives
  • Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, develop a robust consumer insights database and act as the knowledge expert internally for all consumer related insights and information.
  • Design and execute in-market experiments to further Zero’s understanding of marketing actions that can practicably drive volume.
  • Directly manage, lead and grow key members of the marketing team including the brand director, digital, events and key PR personnel
  • Develop, implement and manage aggressive lead generation programs to drive retail sales conversions to ensure all sales objectives by region are met or exceeded.
  • Drive brand awareness through efficient and innovative marketing actions with consumers, authorities, channel partners and industry influencers.
  • Lead the marketing communications strategy and execution including product positioning, earned media, experiential/event engagements, digital, in-store and social media activities
  • Manage all media agency relationships, their activities and budget. Manage the national and regional budgets for marketing communications and brand building.
  • Develop an annual budget in line with strategic objectives and deliver to it.
  • Develop and monitor the appropriate metrics and tools to ensure all objectives are met.
  • Represent Zero Motorcycles as appropriate in its relationships with customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional organizations and similar groups.
  • Drive marketing communications including branding, public relations, advertising, digital marketing and search, social-media, webinars, website design and content within budget to deliver on all brand objectives.
  • Drive new product launch activities: photo and video shoots, marketing materials and press kits, websites (localized for all countries we do business in), competitive analysis and sales support.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the company with press and analysts at industry events and PR engagements where necessary.
  • Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities to ensure all annual objectives are met
  • Work closely with the CTO and Sales VP to identify opportunities for growth and competitive differentiation through new models and/or derivative products and help build the business case to support.
  • Collaborate to ensure proposed products, apps and services we plan to develop are an optimal fit for the needs of our key consumer groups and segments.
  • Contribute as an executive to the development of the Long Range Plan (LRP) for future development and growth of the business. Engage the Zero Board of Directors on the brand and marketing elements of the plan.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, MBA desired, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in high-growth environments as a Marketing leader.

VP of Quality

Summary of Position:

The VP of Quality is responsible for establishing and maintaining a corporate quality system, culture, and team that ensures customer satisfaction and safety, and promotes a relentless pursuit of quality. This leader will champion tools for designing-in and quality assurance, as well as continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives, both at Zero Motorcycles and within the supply chain. This position will be responsible for maintaining and improving an effective Quality Management System (QMS); initiating and implementing quality improvement activities as appropriate using Lean and Six Sigma techniques (e.g., Kaizen, 5S +1, 5 Whys, 7 Wastes, DMAIC, and PFMEA) and raising the performance of the company in terms of the quality, reliability and acceptance of its products, by our customers and distribution partners. This position is full time and will be working in our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Plant and Finished Goods:
    • Define and implement the strategic direction for Zero Quality philosophies, methodologies, and management systems.
    • In partnership with the functional heads across the company to create an accountable and quality based culture. Educate and train employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
    • Effectively create and support process enhancement initiatives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization. Provide effective leadership support, training and guidance to all company personnel.
    • Ensure up-front quality is built into both the design and supplier manufacturing process through industry standard practices, such as appropriate dimensioning and tolerancing, key product characteristics, process flow diagrams, DFMEA and PFMEA’s, process control plans, etc.
    • Enforce quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and all applicable standards worldwide.
    • Design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, first articles inspection (FAI), incoming parts inspection and final QC inspection.
    • Manage the process, control, and security of NCM area (Non-Conforming Material)
    • In collaboration with Production Engineering, implement, improve and maintain quality controls in our production line (control plans, fixtures and equipment for quality assurance, QC inspect of completed bikes, COP audits, Right-First-Time reports, Concerns Per Hundred and Incidents Per Hundred reports, etc.)
    • Represent Quality as a key member of the company Product Integrity Team to promptly address all issues that may affect the safety of our products or their compliance with National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) or international regulations.
  • Global Supply Chain Execution:
    • Define key performance metrics for Quality that align with the corporate policies and goals of the organization.
    • Oversee and lead all areas of the global Quality organization, including; Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality, Engineering, and QMS.
    • Build on the Quality Management System manual / documentation already developed at Zero, to develop and improve the effectiveness of our quality systems across the company’s operations end to end.
    • Serve as a key member in the Supplier Qualification and Approval process. In collaboration with Engineering and Procurement, lead quality assurance at our suppliers. Participate personally, or provide a qualified QA representative to participate, in initial supplier qualification evaluations and follow on audits. Monitor supplier manufacturing process as spelled out in developed control plans (material certifications, inspection reports, test reports, supplier visits, etc.)
    • Monitor supplier performance and establish criteria and rating system for critical suppliers. Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
    • Implement, improve and maintain quality inspection process of incoming materials (according to agreed-upon sample rate, per part number), including First Article Inspection (FAI), Non-Conforming Material (NCM) reports and metrics
  • Customer Support:
    • Serve as the primary quality assurance resource for problem identification, resolution, reporting and continuous improvement. Supervise the QA team in performing root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
    • Using knowledge of customer concerns and requirements, partner closely with engineering, production, production engineering and customer service upfront to enable the development/specification of robust design and manufacturing processes in order to deliver world-class products (e.g. implementation and leadership of DFMEA process).
    • Support engineering / development team efforts by participating in design reviews representing quality assurance and the voice of the customer.
    • In collaboration with Customer Service, maintain and improve our system for collecting, analyzing and reporting on quality issues affecting our owner’s experience with our vehicles. Review the data with the engineering and operations teams and ensure it is actionable to enable them to make sound product design and supplier related decisions.
    • In collaboration with Customer Service, interact directly with customers, dealers and distributors to identify opportunities to improve quality and provide feedback to manufacturing and engineering personnel.
Required Education/Experience:
  • BS or BA degree with 10+ years’ experience in a similar organization with at least five of those years in a senior management role.
  • Experience in the automotive industry (cars or motorcycles) is a must.
  • Must have a demonstrable record of implementing and maintaining a total quality system; laying out a strategic plan and overseeing the tactical implementation, driving improved operational and quality metrics. This person will assure that systems are in place and that inter- and intradepartmental communications are such that “things be done only once – the right way.”
  • Successful development and implementation of a quality strategy for a manufacturing operations environment. Successful in implementing consistent standards.
