Summary of Position:

The Battery Team Lead will manage and lead a six to 12 person battery team as well as assist with other daily production activities. The Team Lead will report directly to Production Supervisor, and will work with Production Engineering, Warehouse staff, Quality Assurance, and Production Control. This position is full time M-F, and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

Summary of Position:

The Customer Service - Electrical Engineer will support partners (including dealers and distributors) by responding to inquiries and technical requests about the electrical aspects of Zero Motorcycle’s products. You will provide second-tier troubleshooting guidance for electrical field issues experienced by owner’s motorcycles and work with our partners to ensure each issue is resolved in a timely and high quality manner. This guidance primarily will consist of reviewing log files and suggesting symptom diagnostic approaches. When necessary, you will escalate issues to senior support engineers or service management team members to expedite their resolution.

On a weekly basis, you will analyze electrical technical issues to identify trends and recommend improvements in tools, training or documentation to eliminate or acceleration the resolution of future problems. This analysis will also be use to deliver a weekly top ten electrical issues list to be reviewed with the product development, manufacturing operations and quality teams. This position is full time M-F and will be working at our Scotts Valley, California headquarters and will report to the Director Customer Experience and Aftersales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Aftersales Parts Business:
    • Achieve annual Service Parts sales and profit objectives.
    • Develop a highly profitable Service Parts business with clear, measurable sales and profit targets according to a long-range plan (LRP) that reflects sustained long-term growth.
    • Work closely with the operations teams to manage the Aftersales Parts Warehouse in order to optimize powertrain parts stock holding through effective forecasting and inventory control in order to balance supply and demand and minimize obsolescence.

Zero Motorcycles is looking for an individual that has a very deep understanding of embedded electrical systems design. This individual will work within a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to design cutting edge electric motorcycles and all the systems that make these vehicles perform safely, predictably, and with performance that excites users. This individual will play a key role in developing our embedded systems firmware, interfaces to the motorcycle, supporting accessories, maintaining legacy code, and testing all of these areas.

The Powertrain Program Manager is responsible for the technical coordination and support of engineering development projects related to Powertrain Sales for our OE customers. The successful candidate owns following up on component, system and vehicle development day-to-day activities with engineering and other functional teams, having the top level project goals in sight at all times. The Powertrain Service Engineer will support powertrain partners by responding to inquiries and technical requests about all aspects of Zero Motorcycles’ powertrain products. This position reports to the Operations Production Manager, is full time M-F, and will be placed through our contracted staffing agency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs tasks to build complete motorcycles and/or sub-assemblies.
  • Assembles forks, motor, wheels, chain/belt drives, handlebars, lights, seats, and other parts to frame using hand and power tools.
  • Follows established quality procedures for the company and department.
  • Records motorcycle build information on log sheets and on other documents.
  • Follows company procedures for handling parts, tools, and finished goods.
  • Follows and complies with safety (safety rules, training, behavioral based safety observations) and environmental requirements.
  • Assists with special projects or other departments when needed.
  • Assists warehouse and shipping staff when needed.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Should have 2-3 years experience assembling or repairing motorcycles.
  • Experience using mechanical and electronic test equipment is desirable.
  • Experience with Kaizen, Cycle Times, Takt Time and overall improvement of efficiency and quality through these processes.
  • Knowledge of production assembly and small hand tools.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and work effectively with other team members.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand at assembly station for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend or stoop down to access inventory, including lifting of items or objects up to 50 lbs., and stand for 2 to 3 hours at a time.
Other Requirements:
  • M1 motorcycle license desirable but not required.
  • Willing and able to work overtime with a flexible schedule including weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Position:

The Production Engineering Associate Engineer is responsible for developing and continuously improving processes on the production line. The primary role is focused on codifying these process improvements into Manufacturing Procedures. The Production Engineer Associate Engineer is also responsible for detecting engineering techniques to solve production problems and for making design recommendations that enhance manufacturability. This role will also include balancing the production lines and sub-assembly cells by analyzing Takt times and co-coordinating/redistributing content/duties. This position includes a secondary role of assisting with facilities equipment maintenance and projects and maintaining the preventative maintenance of such equipment. This position is full time M-F and will be working in our Scotts Valley, California corporate headquarters and will report to the Director of Production Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains the accuracy of MP’s (Manufacturing Procedures) including BOM audits, updating photos, and ensuring best practice process.
  • Proactively identifies production bottlenecks and introduces processes which contribute to efficiency improvements. Identifies and proactively introduces solutions to improve underperforming production processes.
  • Drives continuous improvement in production, by contributing to the MRB process, generating P/CAR’s, ECN’s, PCN’s, and DA’s as required.
  • Develops, plans and coordinates manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Estimates production times and staffing requirements regarding manufacturing production processes.
  • Facilities maintenance and related projects.
  • Assists in researching alternative and substitute components when required to prevent production stoppage (i.e. “line down”).
  • Assists with maintaining the Calibration system for tools and equipment.
  • Assists with the Preventative Maintenance System.
Required Education/Experience:
  • ASME, ASIE, or ASEE coursework desired but can be satisfied with strong mechanical skills.
  • 2D and 3D drafting skills (AutoCAD and solidworks) preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability of performing root cause analysis. Ability to analyze data and present in an effective format. Ability to read and analyze prints and perform tolerance stack analysis.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Excel and Power Point.
  • Familiarity with ERP, PLM, and ECN systems a plus.
  • Familiarity with LEAN principles a plus.

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles is looking for an individual that has a very deep understanding of embedded electrical systems and test equipment design. This individual will work within a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to design manufacturing and testing equipment for the production of electric motorcycles. This individual will play a key role in developing and maintaining our Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This position is full time M-F and will be working in our Scotts Valley, California corporate headquarters and will report to the Director of Production Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write embedded firmware for vehicle functional test systems
  • Assist with building a test infrastructure to get full test coverage of all features
  • Write/develop GUI’s for in-line test equipment (MT-30, NHR 9200, Dyno, etc.)
  • Help develop and maintain interoperability between all embedded firmware test infrastructure and the MES
  • Has a strong voice in the electrical architecture and direction of products sold Zero Motorcycles
  • Work within our agile development to complete assignments
  • Participate in peer reviews and design reviews for firmware and testing
  • Insure projects are handed off to production for on time, fully qualified, quality manufacture on production schedule
  • Creates component or system-level timelines, tracks and reports on progress vs. established timeline
  • Accountable for holding due-dates, understands inter-dependencies between engineering development timelines and downstream stakeholders
  • Owns full documentation and revision control of assigned projects/parts/equipment
  • Generates and tracks to implementation Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Generates and maintains revisions of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Leads in root cause analysis of issues with existing product
Required Education/Experience:
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, Computer Sciences, or similar area
  • 6-10 Years of professional engineering experience in related field

  • Mobility devices, EV systems, or battery operated device experience preferred
